I'll overwhelm 'serious fighter' Jake Paul - Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

The British boxer is set to fight the American YouTuber in an eight-round contest which will be shown in real-time on Netflix.

British boxer Anthony Joshua stated he will "overwhelm entirely" Jake Paul and "defeat" the American as the combatants came face-to-face to build hype for next month's heavyweight fight.

Former two-time world title holder Anthony Joshua battles YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul - in what is, by the numbers, a massive uneven pairing - at Miami's Kaseya Center on December 19th.

Boxer's Attitude

"I plan to damage his features and break his body up. I aim to demonstrate I'm superior," Joshua, 35 years old, stated.

"I plan to overwhelm him. That's the boxer's mindset.

"I'm going to seriously aim to injure him. That's what I want to do."

Respectful Exchange

Despite such comments, a composed Anthony Joshua and social media star Jake Paul - usually recognized for his showmanship - exchanged pleasantries and maintained decorum with each other.

Paul instead targeted former Joshua's rival the Cameroonian fighter and called him "ridiculous" after the Cameroonian turned down a match opportunity.

Taking Aim at Fury

Anthony Joshua, at the same time, took aim at UK rival Fury - and declined a £1m bet 'Tyson Fury' claims he will make on a Paul victory.

"Jake Paul outshines Tyson Fury - he showed up," the boxer stated.

"I respect him for that."

Legitimate Fighter

Despite declaring he will hurt Jake Paul, Anthony Joshua chose not to talk badly about his rival's boxing ability.

"Jake is a legitimate boxer," he said.

Paul's Background

Jake Paul - who initially became famous on the television network - has mostly fought mixed martial artists or faded names since becoming pro.

He lost to Briton Fury in last year.

Financial Attraction

Still, the relative newcomer remains one of the sport's biggest money-making draws, regularly earning massive financial rewards.

Forecast and Belief

The 28-year-old predicted a knockout win in the fourth or fifth round and asserted he would derail the much-anticipated Joshua–Fury fight, which is apparently under discussion for 2026.

"The next fight will be myself against Tyson Fury in the coming year," Paul stated.

Physical Disparity

As the two fighters engaged in the traditional stare-down, with their size difference on show, it emphasized just how surprising this complete situation is - and how amazing it is that the bout is truly proceeding.
